Gadget blogs are a great way to stay on top of all the new releases and breaking news in the tech world. In many ways the gadget blogs have surpassed the traditional tech web sites as the best resources for gadget and tech information. Here are a few sites to get you started.

Engadget.com
The main purpose of this site – which is in typical blog format – is to deliver news about the new gadget releases as well as the latest happenings of the more popular gadgets. Some of the entries also contain reviews, but those are the exception rather than the rule.

Gadget Teaser
This new site has great information on gadgets and apps.

Gizmodo.com
Engadget looks better, but this site has a handy “hot” list at the top of the page where a visitor can click on several popular subjects.

GearCrave
Great blog with tons of cool stuff, covering all sorts of gadgets from phones to computers and cameras.

The-Gadgeteer.com
This site (which is run by two women) focuses more on reviews than on gadget news. They go into great detail in their reviews, providing pictures of the gadget and screen shots of software in action. There are also forums at the site where – you guessed it – people can discuss anything gadget related.

PhoneScoop.com
This blog is dedicated to mobile phone news and reviews. They even have a handy phone finder that allows users to search through the thousand of phone options by many different criteria, including carrier, weight, antenna type and the phone’s features.

RedFerret.net
Ever wondered if that gadget you saw in that Sky Mall magazine was any good? If so, RedFerret might be for you. Listed in typical blog format, the site focuses mostly on the “less mainstream” gadgets (for example, this wall-mounted fish tank).

Ubergizmo.com
Similar to Engadget and Gizmodo (only with a more colorful interface), Ubergizmo highlights the latest releases in the gadget world. It’s hard to tell if this is a US site or a European site because prices are listed in dollars, pounds and Euros.

Popgadget.com
Described as “personal tech for women,” this site focuses solely on gadgets for the fairer sex. If you’re looking for a purse that can double as an iPod amplifier (for your girlfriend, of course), then this is the site for you.
