“What happens in Vegas stays in Vegas.”

Has there ever been a better slogan for a city’s marketing campaign? For the world’s biggest adult playground, this phrase says it all. Come to Las Vegas and do things you would never do at home (or around certain family members or friends).

It’s nice to see Sin City getting back to its roots. After the misguided attempt to make Las Vegas family-friendly, the powers that be finally realized that kids didn’t fit in too well with gambling, strippers and loads of alcohol. Thank you! Now it's safe to go back for your bachelor party and all your other favorite vices.

Other trends have also transformed Vegas, from the explosion of high-end restaurants to the literal explosion of old hotels. The building boom has continued, and now it’s extending to luxury condos as well, though the mortgage crisis has slowed things down quite a bit. Real estate values in Vegas are falling fast from their previous highs.

While Vegas has gotten back to its partying roots, some of the old school charm has disappeared. With consolidation all the rage, the casino operations have become very corporate. It always helps to know people, but that got you much more 10 years ago. That said, if you’re throwing around some cash, you will be taken care of, whether you’re in the casino or your favorite strip club.

The best thing about Vegas is that there’s something for everyone, regardless of your tastes or your budget. Our guide will help you find the casinos, bars and restaurants that fit your plans, and we’ll point you to other useful web sites as well. Enjoy!
