Reese Witherspoon in “This Means War”

Reese Witherspoon is a lovely blonde who fits into most girl next door fantasies. She’s beautiful but accessable . . . or at least we think she might be.

Born in Nashville, Tennessee in 1976, Reese was born into a family of doctors, and was even expected to become one after she was exposed to the entertainment industry. Reese became a child model at the age of seven and began appearing in TV commercials shortly after. Reese continued to build upon her television career with small made-for-TV movies, but in 1994 she decided to put acting on hold while she attended Stanford University.

Following graduation, Reese accepted offers to appear in two mainstream features (“Fear” and “Highway”), but it wasn’t until her role in “Pleasantville” that she began to garner serious critical attention. The film enjoyed mediocre success at the box office, but its two young stars (Reese and Tobey Maguire) were instantly given a boost in their careers. Reese quickly became a hot commodity in Young Hollywood with two more hits, Alexander Payne’s high school satire “Election” and the young adult thriller “Cruel Intentions,” where Reese also met future husband Ryan Phillippe. Reese was quickly becoming one of the most talked about upcoming actresses in the industry, and in 2001, she solidified that statement with her starring role in the summer blockbuster comedy “Legally Blonde.” Reese’s star has truly risen since the film became the biggest girl power-themed movie since “Clueless” (and no, “Spice World” doesn’t count).

Reese evenutally became a mogul in Hollywood worth millions as she started producing female-oriented stories.

Reese Witherspoon on the Screen

Reese has become a pretty familiar face on the big screen as of late, thanks mostly to her breakthrough performances in “Pleasantville” and “Cruel Intentions.” Reese further increased her stock with standout performances in the satires “Election” and “American Psycho” before starring in the summer comedy “Legally Blonde.” Since then, Reese has been fairly picky with what roles she has chosen, but has remained a major player in romantic comedies, and even guest starred as Jennifer Aniston’s sister on two episodes of “Friends.” Reese snagged an Oscar for her performance in the musical biopic of singer/songwriter Johnny Cash, “Walk the Line.” She’s been fairly busy over the year with roles in films like “Four Christmases” in 2008 and “Sing” in 2016.

Reese Says

On being labeled a dumb blonde:
“Being a Southern person and a blonde, it’s not a good combination. Immediately, when people meet you, they think of you as not being smart.”

On acting:
“If acting didn’t work out for me, I could be a professional trampolinist.”
