Here are some great parks to visit while in the area.

Visitors can take in breathtaking scenery, lakes, forestland and miles of nature trails. In addition, the park offers a variety of recreational and entertainment activities including laser shows, tennis, fishing and camping. Located only 16 miles east of downtown Atlanta on Highway 78, Stone Mountain is open year-round. Call 770-498-5690 or 1-800-317-2006 for more information.

Lenox Square Mall
One of the hottest shopping malls in the south, Lenox Square features hundreds of upscale shops, a few movie theaters and some great places to dine. It's conveniently located around all the hip places in Atlanta including many hotels. Address: 3393 Peachtree Rd., Atlanta, GA 30303.

Piedmont Park
In the heart of Midtown lies Piedmont Park. Perfect to just go and relax in between your tourist activities, Piedmont offers free admission and parking. Reservations encouraged. Please call 404-875-7275 for more information.

Six Flags
Located just outside the Atlanta area, Six Flags has to be the greatest chain amusement park in the states. In 2001, Six Flags opened two new, exciting rides, the new 161-ft plummet ride, the Acrophobia, and the Dej Vu, a suspended boomerang coaster in which its riders go both forwards and backwards. Address: 275 Riverside Parkway, Austell, GA 30168. Call 770-948-9290 or go to www.sixflags.com for more information.

CNN Tour
Take the CNN Studio Tour and get a behind-the-scenes look at the place where the news keeps coming. You can view video clips of the top 100 news stories or learn and ponder the intricacies of journalism ethics. The CNN studio tour is a wonderful family outing, but be aware that children under six are not allowed on the regular CNN Studio Tour and children under 12 are not allowed on the smaller, more personalized VIP tours. Address: One CNN Center, Atlanta, GA 30303. Call 404-827-2300 for more information.

Great place to take the kids, the Atlanta Zoo is clean and fun for a family visit and also features an amazing Giant Panda exhibit. It'll also save a trip to China for some people. Address: 800 Cherokee Ave., Atlanta, GA 30315. Call 404-624-5600 for more information.
