As one of the much more entertaining actresses in Young Hollywood today, Kate Bosworth has continually surprised us with her incredible talent, flawless beauty and a classic smile that would even make Julia Roberts a bit jealous. As a rising star who still hasn’t officially “hit it big” with one specific film, Kate always turns in great performances whatever size the role and will surely become one of the top actresses of her day. Born in 1983 in California, Kate spent a lot of her adolescence traveling throughout the US as an award-winning equestrian. Her knowledge and love for horses was even the striving force in her decision to audition for her first role in Robert Redford’s “The Horse Whisperer,” and as soon as she got a taste of the film world, she never turned back.
Kate continued to finish high school before heading back to Hollywood, but finally, after an 18-month leave from her last film shoot, Kate was back on the set with a small part in the Denzel Washington football film, “Remember the Titans,” and a leading role on the short-lived WB series “Young Americans.” Kate’s biggest role to date came in 2002 with her first starring role in the girl-power surfing film “Blue Crush,” and after she insisted on learning how to surf for the movie, the rest of the cast joined in on the tough-as-nails two month training session that required seven hours of exercise a day. After the film surprised critics and audiences with its ground-breaking cinematography and shining lead actress, Kate quickly became a hot commodity for starring in movies that were targeted toward a younger audience desperately looking for quality films. Now that she has finally proved that she has the talent and the looks to make her big arrival on the red carpet, Kate’s future couldn’t look any brighter.

Kate on the Screen
Kate got her big break in movies like "The Horse Whisperer" and "Remember the Titans" before landing her first starring role in the surfer drama "Blue Crush." She's also appeared in the big-screen adaptation of Bret Easton Ellis' "The Rules of Attraction," the rom-com "Win a Date with Tad Hamilton!," the Bobby Darin biopic "Beyond the Sea," and as Lois Lane in the ill-fated "Superman Returns." More recently, Kate has starred in smaller, indie fare like "Life Happens," "Another Happy Day" and "Black Rock."
On her role in "Blue Crush":
“I thought their biggest fear in not casting me might be that I had never surfed before and I wanted them to see how serious I was."
"When you're wiped out on a 10-foot wave, it's going to get ripped off you. It's just going to happen. So much so that, by the end, I was just: 'Everybody's seen it.' I'm over it. It's not that big a deal."
"Standing on a surfboard is like trying to stand on soap. You're going to fall."
