Movie Review: “Eurotrip”

Movie Review: EurotripNow that the kids of “American Pie” are all grown up, it’s time to bring in the new blood of the teen-comedy generation. The cast of “Eurotrip” jumps to the frontline with a comedy that’s better than expected and enhanced by hilarious cameos from Matt Damon as a punk rocker and Vinnie Jones as a fierce soccer hooligan.

It’s the summer before college and Scotty (Scott Mechlowicz) has just been dumped by his girlfriend the same day his German pen pal “Mike” suggests they hook-up. After discovering that “Mike” is actually the drop-dead gorgeous Mieke (Jessica Boehrs), Scotty and his best pal Cooper (Jacob Pitts) head to Europe in search of her.

On the way, they meet up with high school friends Jenny and Jamie (Michelle Trachtenberg and Travis Webster) and embark on a cross-country trip highlighted by the antics of a French mime, an oversexed dominatrix and a climatic romp in the Vatican, all for the sake of locating the lovely Mieke.

Movie Review: Eurotrip“Eurotrip” has its problems just like any other teen comedy, but the film is much funnier than the trailers let on. While a few jokes quickly go sour, the writers generally keep the laughs coming without resorting to potty humor. “Eurotrip” is a great comedy for crowds of all ages, offering slapstick and wit while still managing to keep the thin plot moving along as well as it can.
